The Ficus Lyrata , also known as the Fiddle-Leaf Plant or Tobacco Plant , is a real eye-catcher in your home. With its large, glossy leaves and distinctive veins, and the characteristic shape of a violin or lyre, this plant brings a tropical touch and plenty of style to your interior.

This plant originates from West Africa, where it can grow up to twenty meters tall in the wild. In your living room, it remains compact, yet equally impressive thanks to its expressive leaves, which can reach a width of up to 50 cm. It prefers a bright spot, out of direct sunlight, and has moderate water requirements.

  Caring for the Ficus Lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Plant)

  The Ficus Lyrata is a relatively easy houseplant, but with the right care it will not only remain healthy, but also beautifully full and shiny.

  📍 Location

  Place the plant in a bright spot with indirect sunlight . Too much direct sunlight can burn the leaves, while too little light slows growth. Regularly rotate the plant a quarter turn to ensure even growth.

  💧 Watering

  Water the Ficus Lyrata moderately . Let the top 2–3 cm of the potting soil dry out before watering again. In winter, you can reduce watering slightly. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.

  💨 Humidity

  The Ficus prefers average to high humidity . During dry periods or when the temperature is high, you can occasionally mist the leaves to increase humidity.

  🌿 Leaf care

  The large leaves can collect dust. Gently wipe them clean with a damp cloth to keep them shiny and healthy. This also allows the plant to breathe better and absorb light.

  🌱 Nutrition

  Feed the plant every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a liquid houseplant food. Fertilization is not necessary in autumn and winter.
