Planting & Care

Location: Partial sun to light shade. Preferably out of direct midday sun or wind.

Soil: Slightly acidic, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Avoid chalky or wet soils.

Planting in the garden:

Dig a large planting hole. Mix the soil with garden peat or special maple potting soil.

Place the plant at the same depth as in the pot, press lightly and water generously.

Planting in a pot:

Use a large pot with drainage holes and acid-loving potting soil.

Place the pot in a sheltered spot (e.g. against a wall or hedge).

Care:

Water regularly during dry periods, especially young plants.

Fertilize annually in spring with food for acid-loving plants.

Pruning is not necessary, although shaping can be done after autumn.
